Summer Reading at the Santa Monica Public Library, 2007

Summer Reading is almost over! Remember, the Summer Reading prizes are available only while supplies last, or until September 8th, whichever comes first.

This information is for kids who can read independently and for parents of infants, toddlers and preschoolers interested in "Read-to-Me," our summer reading program for babies and very young children.

For information about "YNK" (You Never Know), our summer reading program for teens, please visit www.smplteens.org.

Signing Up

Sign up for Summer Reading at any of the Santa Monica Public Library locations beginning June 18, 2007.

When you sign up you will receive a Summer Reading bag, bookmark, and clock folder.

Use the clock folder to track the time you spend reading. You can read anything! Picture books, chapter books, magazines, comic books, graphic novels and so on.

Prizes

After you have read for 5 hours, bring your clock folder to any library to claim your first prize*: a secret compartment wristband.

After reading for an additional 5 hours, for a total of 10 hours, visit the library for your second prize: a paperback book!

Read for 5 more hours, for a total of 15 hours, and receive:*

For babies, toddlers and preschoolers in the "Read-to-Me" Program, a Library Detective badge. For kids reading independently, a Get a Clue t-shirt.

*Please Note: the Summer Reading prizes are available only while supplies last, or until September 8th, whichever comes first.

Activities

Please check our Program Calendar for lots of fun Summer Reading activities and events, including puppets, crafts, magic, stories and theatrical programs.
