Children ages 4 to 8 are invited to enter a Curious George® Story Contest held at the Main Library, 601 Santa Monica Boulevard, from February 10 to February 21, 2006.

To celebrate the theatrical release of the new Curious George movie, the Santa Monica Public Library is holding a story book contest for children ages 4 to 8 to create their own Curious George adventure! Beginning Friday, February 10, children can pick up an entry form and contest materials in the Youth Services area of the Main Library. Entry forms and completed stories must be turned in by February 21.

One winner will be selected from each of two categories – ages 4 to 5 and ages 6 to 8.

The winners will be chosen based on the following criteria:

  • Does the book tell a story?
  • Do the pictures follow the story?
  • How creative and imaginative is the book?

All qualified entries will be judged by noted children's book authors and illustrators.

Each winner will receive a movie gift card for one child and one adult admission to the Curious George movie.

All children who enter will receive a Curious George activity packet and will have their entries displayed in the Youth Services area of the Main Library.

For more information about the contest, call the Youth Services Department at (310) 458-8621.
